Guru Dragpur and Guardians

Guru Dragpur — the unity of the various manifestations such as Garuda, Hayagriva, Vajrapani, Vajrakilaya and others. He is also associated with Guru Dragpo, which is a manifestation of Guru Padmasambhava.

He has a red body with one face and two arms and three ferocious eyes. In his right hand Guru Dragpur holds a nine-pointed Vajra, and with the left hand he is pressing down nine-headed iron scorpion.

At the top of the thangka and in its center, in a golden tigle shown Primordial Buddha Samantabhadra, under him in the five-colored rainbow — Garab Dorje, an emanation of the Buddha Sakyamuni and the first Dzogchen teacher of our time.

Garab Dorje is surrounded by Idam (Vajrasattva and Green Tara) and Teachers: Guru Padmasambhava and his two main disciples on the one side and the Chogyal Namkhai Norbu and his Sangha on the other.The main figure of the Guru Dragpur surrounded by the guardians of the Teaching: Ekajati, Mahakala Manin, Rahula, Dorje Legpa and five sisters Tserinma. All of them are the protectors of the Dzogchen teaching.
